MANILA, Philippines – Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III eyes reelection in 2019, after failing to complete his first term of office from 2007 to 2013.
Pimentel, who fought an electoral case against Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, was able to assume his post only in August 2011.
But at least two disqualification cases were filed against the senator over this issue just a month after he filed his certificate of candidacy. Pimentel, however, is confident that the Commission on Elections and the Supreme Court would side with him.
On top of this, Pimentel also faces the challenge of leading PDP-Laban in the midterm elections.
