Canvassing of votes is temporarily suspended in Bacolod City as 4 clustered precincts failed to use the main memory cards for the PCOS machines

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Canvassing of votes is temporarily suspended in the city, as 4 clustered precincts failed to use the main memory cards for the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines.

Upon deliberation, the city board of election canvassers decided to resume the canvassing at 5pm on Tuesday, May 14. This is to give time for the delivery of the main memory cards from the Comelec warehouse in Cabuyao, Laguna.

The 4 clustered precincts are: Cluster 95 (Garcia Elementary School), Cluster 110 (Domingo Lacson High School). Cluster 286 (Villa Esperanza High School), and Cluster 279 (Medel Elementary School). There are 311 clustered precincts in the city of Bacolod, according to Comelec data.

According to election officer Milagros Villanueva, the memory cards used during the casting of votes in the 4 clustered precincts were back-up memory cards.

Unofficial results already show former Rep Monico Puentevella of the Pamilya Mabinuligay Kita sa Kauswagan winning over Thaddy Sayson of the Nationalist People’s Coalition.

With 61 barangays, Bacolod City has 259,302 registered voters. – with a report from Rappler Ambassador Paula Azurin/Rappler.com
