Astrologer bares ‘lucky dates’ for COC filing
Astrologer Resti Santiago says there are 'two to 3 workable dates' during the October 11 to 17 filing period

MANILA, Philippines – On the eve of the first day of filing Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) for the 2019 elections,  a  well-known astrologer and fengshui practitioner bared what he deemed as two auspicious days during the filing period.

“There are only two to 3 workable dates during the filing period,” said Resti H. Santiago, whose “Filipino astrology” website is one of the most popular astrology sites in the country.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) set  October 11 to 17 as the COC filing period for the 2019 elections, This excludes October 13 (Saturday) and 14 (Sunday).

Santiago, who occasionally writes for Rappler, said that two of the more favorable dates are October 11 and 15.

“Within those workable dates, exact time of filing must be compatible with the chart of the candidate,” he added.

Santiago also said that candidates can file on the other dates based on their birth charts but predicted that those filing on the supposed lucky dates would have an edge.

Santiago claimed to have “predicted” the deadly landslides in Itogon, Benguet, and Naga, Cebu. In his Facebook page, he cited his prediction in his Filipino Astrologer 2018 Timing Guides that during the Libra ingress, applicable from September 2018 to March 2019, there may be “earthquakes, landslides and mining accidents.”

In astronomy and astrology, ingress is “the arrival of the sun, the moon, or a planet in a specified constellation or part of the sky,” according to the Oxford Dictionary definition.

Even the Comelec itself had acknowledged the inclination of many aspirants to file their COCs on supposed auspicious dates. Prior to the May 14 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, it came out with a press release that it expected an influx of filers on April 18, 2018, because of the significance of 8 in fengshui.

“Feng Shui adherents view the lucky number as a representation of prosperity and abundance, hence they are expected to flock to various Officers of the Election Officer nationwide at exactly 8:00 in the morning of April 18, 2018,” the Comelec press release said then. – Rappler.com
