MANILA, Philippines – Tropical depression “Ofel” changed course and is now moving towards Surigao del Norte, weather bureau PAGASA said on Tuesday, October 23.

In its 5 pm tropical cyclone warning, PAGASA noted that as of 4 pm Ofel was located 220 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur (08.9°N, 128.6°E), with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h.

The tropical depression is now moving West-Northwest at 15 km/h and by Wednesday afternoon will be over Panaon Island, Southern Leyte.

Ofel is also expected to be 210 km West of Manila by Friday afternoon, the weather bureau added.
