Rains to greet schoolkids in Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines – Cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms will greet schoolchildren in Mindanao on Monday, June 3, the first day of the school year.

An intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is affecting southern Mindanao, state weather bureau PAGASA said in its 24-hour forecast released Sunday, June 2.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies, accompanied by rain or thunderstorms.

Prevailing winds will come mainly from the east, the bureau said.

No tropical cyclone is within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
