Wilma weakens to LPA; Wet Tues in Visayas, north Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines – Wilma has weakened back into a low pressure area (LPA), but will be bringing rain to parts of Mindanao and the Visayas.

As of 2 pm Monday, the LPA was located 32 kilometers southeast of Tagbilaran City, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

The LPA is embedded along an intertropical convergence zone affecting the Visayas and Mindanao.

Storm warning signals have all been lifted, the bureau said.

The bureau said the 5 pm bulletin on Wilma will be its last, unless the system re-intensifies in the coming days.

With the LPA and ITCZ in the area, the Visayas and the regions of Caraga, Northern Mindanao, and Zamboanga Peninsula can expect moderate to occasionally heavy rain and thunderstorms.

These areas should be prepared for possible flash floods and landslides, the bureau said.

The rest of Mindanao along with Mimaropa and the Cagayan Valley will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rain.

The rest of the archipelago will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rains.

With the weakening of Wilma into an LPA, no tropical cyclone currently exists within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
