MANILA, Philippines – Parts in the central and southern areas of the Philippines can expect cloudy skies with light rains on Christmas Eve, December 24, state weather bureau PAGASA said Monday, December 23.

Mindanao is feeling the effects of the trough of a low pressure area, while the northeast monsoon is affecting northern Luzon, the bureau said in its 24-hour forecast.

Aurora, Quezon, the entire Mindanao, Bicol, Eastern Visayas and Central Visayas can expect cloudy skies accompanied by light to moderate rains and thunderstorms.

The Ilocos, the Cordilleras and Cagayan Valley will have cloudy skies with light rains, while the rest of the archipelago will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies accompanied by isolated rains.

Prevailing winds will come from the east to northeast. There are no tropical cyclones within the Philippine Area of Responsibility, the bureau added.
