MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Storm Henry (international codename Matmo) slowed down slightly as it moved northwest, state weather bureau Pagasa said on Saturday, July 19, in a weather bulletin issued at 11 pm. 

At 10 pm, Saturday, the eye of the typhoon was located 470 km East of Guiuan, Eastern Samar province, with maximum sustained winds of 120 km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 150 km per hour.

It is expected to move northwest at 15 km per hour.

Typhoon Henry is expected to be 370 km east of Virac, Catanduanes by Sunday evening, July 20, and 260 km East of Casiguran, Aurora, by Monday evening, July 21. By Tuesday evening, July 22, it is expected to be 60 km northwest of Basco, Batanes.

Rainfall amount and other reminders

Meanwhile, the estimated rainfall amount is from 7.5-15 mm per hour (moderate-heavy) within the 500-km diameter of the typhoon, according to Pagasa.

The typhoon is expected to bring moderate to occasionally heavy rain and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Dinagat and Siargao Island, and over the province of Surigao del Norte.
