Malacanang declares 3 days as non-working holidays in the National Capital Region during Pope Francis’ visit to the Philippines

MANILA, Philippines – Malacanang has declared that 3 days in January 2015 during Pope Francis’ visit to the Philippines will be considered special non-working holidays for the National Capital Region (NCR).

Proclamation 936, signed Tuesday, December 23 by Executive Secretary Pacquito Ochoa, declared January 15, 16 and 19 as holidays “in view of the visit of the Pope, the head of state of the Vatican City.”

Pope Francis will arrive at the Villamor Air Base on the afternoon of Thursday, January 15, and will depart for Rome at 10 AM Monday, January 19.

His 4-day visit will include a mass in Tacloban City, one of the most devastated sites after last year’s Super Typhoon Haiyan. – Rappler.com
