Mahindra rallies past Blackwater to earn first win
Alex Mallari steps up with 23 points plus 11 rebounds to gift Mahindra its first win on Christmas

MANILA, Philippines – The Mahindra Floodbusters rallied late in the fourth period and closed out the game in overtime to defeat the Blackwater Elite, 97-93, and win their first game of the PBA season on Sunday, December 25, at the Philippine Arena.

Led by Alex Mallari, Mahindra went on a 13-2 run to end regulation. A 3-pointer by Ryan Arana put the Floodbusters on top to open the OT, and they held on to their lead the rest of the way by converting at the foul stripe.

Mallari had 23 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists to lead Mahindra, which improved to 1-5 this conference also with some help from Arana, who had 19 points and 6 boards.

Blackwater, which was up at one point by 15, dropped to 4-3 in the standings. Art Dela Cruz led the team with 18 points and 6 rebounds while rookie Mac Belo had 14 points and 9 boards. –
