PSL: Petron snaps Generika-Ayala’s streak for solo 2nd place
Petron and Foton get off to stunning wins in the 2019 PSL All-Filipino Conference

MANILA, Philippines – The Petron Blaze Spikers nabbed a solo 2nd spot after blasting Generika-Ayala in straight sets, 25-18, 25-12, 25-16, in the 2019 Philippine Superliga (PSL) All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday, July 9, at the Bacoor Strike Gym in Cavite.

The Blaze Spikers showed no mercy as they gained their third straight victory and snapped the Lifesavers’ four-game winning streak.

Ces Molina and Sisi Rondina delivered 12 attacks each, while Rhea Dimaculangan dished out 18 excellent sets to go with two points, leading Petron to a 5-1 record.

Siguro palagi lang kami nire-remind ni coach na mas mag-focus kami kung ano ang igagalaw namin kaysa mag-expect agad kami ng maganda. Trabaho pa rin kami and unti-unti namin ma-improve ‘yung communication,” Dimaculangan said.

(I guess coach just reminds us to be more focused in the way we play instead of expecting that things turn in our favor. It’s our job and we will slowly improve our on-court communication.)

Generika-Ayala fell to 4-2.

The Foton Blue Tornadoes also turned back Cignal HD Spikers in 4 sets, 25-27, 25-23, 25-20, 25-19.

Player of the game Jaja Santiago tallied 29 points off 22 attacks and 7 blocks which enabled the Tornadoes to climb to a 4-3 standing, while Cignal dropped to 2-4. – Czarina Brozo/ Rappler.com
