MANILA, Philippines – Former NBA player Cherokee Parks and WNBA Los Angeles Sparks’ Alana Beard visited the Philippines for the first time to hold basketball clinics for young Filipino ballers in Davao and Manila. 

But they certainly did more than just that.

NBA journeyman Parks shared how he battled through a lackluster athletic career and depression before he found a new path as an NBA basketball operations associate where he gets to help kids all over the world reach their NBA dreams. 

Beard, meanwhile, continued to show that there are no limits as she still clinched the WNBA Defensive Player of the Year awards in the last two seasons at 36 yearws old. 

She defied the odds with her renowned defensive style of play, but she hopes that it will also inspire kids – especially female athletes – to just pursue their dreams.  – Rappler.com
