Lakers’ Swaggy P: ‘A dolphin tried to kill me’
'He was trying to kill me. I think he was trying to get on Iggy. He was a little friendly, kissing her and stuff. He was trying to take my woman,' said Lakers guard Nick Young

MANILA, Philippines – As if the Los Angeles Lakers didn’t have enough problems this season, the team now has to deal with shooting guard Nick Young’s ongoing phobia of dolphins.

The 6-foot-7 Young, who is currently averaging 13.6 points a game, recounted a bizarre tale to reporters before Tuesday’s loss to the Denver Nuggets about a dolphin that he felt threatened his continued existence.

Ocean-dwelling mammals became a topic of discussion after his girlfriend, rapper Iggy Azalea, tweeted the cryptic statement: “Nick is scared of dolphins.”

The incident happened while the celebrity couple were vacationing in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and has left Young scarred for life. Young feels the dolphin had it out specifically for him.

“He was playing with everybody else, doing what dolphins do – the ‘ack ack’ and all that,” Young, also known as Swaggy P, was quoted by ESPN. “It was my time to ride the dolphin. For some reason, he took me all the way to the bottom. He was trying to drown me. But I saw it happening so I jumped out of the water and took off the little life vest and threw off my little water shoes and stayed outside.

“He went straight down. He was trying to kill me. I think he was trying to get on Iggy. He was a little friendly, kissing her and stuff. He was trying to take my woman.”

The story was interrupted by Lakers coach Byron Scott, who threatened to fine him for arriving at least 15 minutes late to the game.

Dolphin trauma may or may not be responsible for his poor shooting night, as Young shot just 4-13 for 12 points in 27 minutes 106-96 home loss, dropping the team to 13-39 on the season.

Perhaps if teams want to neutralize his offensive outputs, perhaps defenders should wear Flipper masks. – Rappler.com
