Larry Fonacier out for the rest of PBA Commissioner’s Cup
The NLEX Road Warrior is still confined in the hospital due to a fractured rib and collapsed lung

MANILA, Philippines – NLEX Road Warrior Larry Fonacier will no longer see action for the rest of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup conference, head coach Yeng Guiao confirmed on Wednesday, June 20.

“According to our team doctor, he will miss the rest of the conference,” said Guiao in a text message to Rappler.

Fonacier is still confined in the hospital due to a fractured rib and a collapsed lung that resulted from a mid-air collision with Barangay Ginebra’s Jervy Cruz last June 9 in Legazpi City.

The guard was visibly hurt as he held his rib after the accident. He was subbed out with 6 seconds left in the 3rd quarter, and did not return in the 4th.

“Nothing serious but it will take a little time to recover,” added Guiao, noting a positive update on Fonacier’s situation.

The former Ateneo standout averaged 8.86 points, 4.86 rebounds and 4.00 assists this conference.

Fonacier’s injury was another blow for the Road Warriors, who already lost Kevin Alas to ACL injury and Kiefer Ravena to suspension after testing positive for banned substances. – Rappler.com
