WATCH: Sportscaster drinks on air, tells kids to forget their dreams after team loses

MANILA, Philippines – Few are likely to have taken the Washington Capitals’ disappointing second round exit from the National Hockey League (NHL) playoffs than Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic sportscaster Michael Jenkins.

Jenkins appeared crushed while recapping the day’s sports news following the Capitals’ elimination at the hands of the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday, May 10 (Wednesday Manila time), and he wanted to share his pain with the viewers.

 “You guys hear about the Caps? No? You like to drink? I like to drink,” says Jenkins before pulling out an iced beverage from under his desk. “I’m gonna drink the whole show,” he says after taking a sip.

Jenkins’ pain is understandable, after the Caps finished first in the East with a 56–18–8 record, and seemed poised to win their first Stanley Cup. Alas, it was not to be, and Jenkins settled for the comfort which one can only find at the bottom of an ice-filled Collins glass.

“I got a message for all you kids out there. I know everyone says ‘Oh you can do whatever you want if you put your mind to it.’ It’s all one big lie. Caps were supposed to win it all this season, they put their mind to it. Look what happened. Crushing disappointment, so give up on your dreams,” said Jenkins. – Rappler.com
