Gumabao, Devance, Belga crossover to TV
Usually the ones commented on by analysts, the three sports personalities give their take on the ins and outs of sports

MANILA, Philippines – ABS-CBN has launched a reboot of sports talk show The Score this October.

Hosted by longtime sports commentator Mico Halili, the show also boasts a co-host lineup of sports personalities like Gretchen Ho, Michelle Gumabao, Allan Caidic, Beau Belga, Joe Devance, Jett Manuel, Jai Reyes, LA Tenorio and Jimmy Alapag.

Gumabao, Devance and Belga, in particular, are pumped to start working with Halili on their live TV analyses and interviews.

“Well of course, just to bring a more in-depth look at all of our athletes, share what it’s like behind the scenes or out of the court, because that’s what everybody wants to know,” Gumabao said.

Kasi wala naman talaga ang professional league, wala naman talaga ang isang sport kung ‘di dahil sa mga supporters natin.”

(A professional league or a sport in general is nothing without its supporters.)

The 36-year-old Devance, meanwhile, is looking at hosting as a natural transition to once he’s done playing in the PBA with Ginebra.

“I’m very thankful for the opportunity. Looking forward to it,” he shared. “For me, I’ve been playing basketball on TV, but it’s different than being on TV. Know what I mean? This is something totally different. Like what I was saying before, I think this is what I’m meant to do with my life.”

“I’m like a cross between Will Smith and Denzel Washington,” he joked. “You guys are about to find out.”

Belga, one of Rain or Shine’s stars, is ready to star alongside what he calls a “kind” cast.

So sabi ko, sige sali ako.”

(When they called me up, I said ‘Is ABS serious, of all people, you picked me?’ But when I saw the lineup, I said it’s just right. Because when you combine the nice people with a troublemaker, you have a good program concept on your hands. So I joined.)

The Score airs live on the ABS-CBN YouTube channel at 1 pm every Monday and Friday before airing on their S+A channel at 6 pm. – Rappler.com
