Filipina tracksters snag 3 silvers in Taiwan Open
MANILA, Philippines – Filipinas Kyla and Kayla Richardson and Alyanna Nicolas captured silver medals in the Taiwan Athletics Open on Sunday, May 26.
Siblings Kyla and Kayla both finished 2nd in the 100 and 200 meters, respectively, while Nicolas also landed at 2nd in the pole vault.
Kyla clocked in 11.89 seconds behind Hong Kong veteran On Ki Lam, who recorded 11.86 seconds. Coming at 3rd place was Pakdee Kwarantai of Thailand with 11.90 seconds.
Filipina Kristina Knott, who timed 12.04 in heats, withdrew from the 100 meters finals after experiencing discomfort.
Kayla, meanwhile, fell short of the gold by finishing with a time of 24.17 seconds, which fell behind the time of Singapore bet and 2015 Southeast Asian Games 200 meters champion Veronica Shanti Pereira, who tallied 24.05 seconds.
Hong Vai Poon of Hong Kong was 3rd with 25.51 seconds.
Nicolas, on the other hand, cleared 4.00 meters behind Taiwan's Yi Ji Shen, who leaped 4.12 meters for the gold.
Another Filipina, Evalyn Palabrica, landed at 4th in the javelin throw with 48.62 meters. – Rappler.com
