PSL: Kalei Mau feels ‘at home’ with F2 Logistics
'I’m blessed to be able to land this team,' says the Filipino-Hawaiian volleyball standout

MANILA, Philippines – Kalei Mau looked like she barely needed time to adjust to her new home in F2 Logistics

It’s only been a week since Mau joined the La Salle-dominated team, but the Fil-Hawaiian spiker already nailed a game-high 17 points off 14 kills, 2 aces and 1 block in her F2 debut against PLDT.

“I definitely say it was a successful experiment. I’ve had only just a few practices and we didn’t actually play six-on-six yet. So everything was just drills so I really have to improvise with my setter,” said Mau, who had to skip F2’s opening game against Generika-Ayala due to Philippine Superliga transfer rules.

The former open spiker of the defunct United Volleyball Club said she couldn’t dream of a perfect match with her new team and multi-titled mentor Ramil de Jesus.

“After an unfortunate first few days back here in the Philippines, they picked me up. My spirit was back to normal, back to regular Kalei so I’m really happy. I’m blessed to be able to land this team,” said Mau.

Returning from her UAAP Season 81 stint, Michelle Cobb took charge of setting up Mau, who was flexible and easy to work with as a teammate.

“It’s been a week since she started but then we have deep conversations already and I see her as a big sister and I think with that, I’m more comfortable,” said Cobb.

Captain Aby Maraño is also enjoying the company of the 6-foot-2 open spiker, whom she used to face on the other side of the court.

Ngayon nasa side na namin, sobrang sarap sa feeling kasi parang may ka-duet ka inside the court. Yung energy na binibigay ko sa team, mas nadadagdagan dahil sa binibigay na energy din niya,” said the F2 middle blocker.

(Now that she’s on our side, it’s a great feeling to have someone help you inside the court. She adds to the energy I bring into the team because she also gives a lot.)

Mau will join the Cargo Movers against the Foton Tornadoes on Saturday, June 22, 6 pm, at the Imus Sports Center in Cavite. – Czarina Brozo/Rappler.com
