The two-time UAAP MVP and champion was named the Most Valuable Player of the Shakey’s V-League Open Conference on Sunday, May 24, at the San Juan Arena. 

It was the first time the Lady Eagle won a conference MVP award in the V-League. In past seasons, she won Best Scorer, Best Server, and Finals MVPs awards. 

Valdez was also named the First Best Outside Spiker of the tournament, while Army Lady Troopers star Rachel Anne Daquis was the Second Best Outside Spiker.

Valdez’s PLDT teammate and National University standout Jaja Santiago was named the Second Best Middle Blocker, while Cagayan Valley’s Ria Meneses was awarded the First Best Middle Blocker of the tourney. 

Jovelyn Gonzaga of Army was the Best Opposite Spiker award recipient. 

PLDT standout Rubie De Leon was given the Best Setter award while Meralco’s Jen Reyes was named the Best Libero of the V-League.

The awards were handed out prior to Game 2 of the Finals between PLDT and Army, with the latter currently on top 1-0.
