JAKARTA, Indonesia – As the Philippine women’s volleyball team shoots for history in the 2018 Asian Games, some of the players’ beaus flew from Manila to Jakarta to give them an extra boost.

Jia Morado’s boyfriend, Miguel de Guzman, made his way to Jakarta after the team landed last Friday, August 17. He caught the team’s opening game against Thailand  where Morado was reunited with her idol, Thai setter Tomkom Nootsara.

Despite the straight-set loss to Thailand, it was all smiles for the former Ateneo setter because it was De Guzman who ultimately made her day.

De Guzman missed the team’s first win against Hong Kong, but Morado was still grateful for his all-out support.

Appreciation post for this guy who flew out to Jakarta to support me, brought me jerseys and a marker to make sure I get Nootsara’s autograph, and, to cap it off, surprised me with a gold medal after yesterday’s game. Antonio Miguel de Guzman, you make me a winner,” wrote Morado in her Instagram post.

Kiefer Ravena had to bear the massive delays caused by the NAIA runway mishap to support his girlfriend, Alyssa Valdez.

Although he missed the game against Thailand last Sunday, Ravena made up for it big time during the team’s game against Japan: going live on periscope for the volleyball fans back home.

Unfortunately, the livestream did not last long, but he still managed to give the public updates.

It was a Team Ateneo reunion right after game!

Ravena missed the Gilas game against China because his FIBA suspension barred him from playing and even watching Philippine basketball games. But the NLEX guard hopes that he and Alyssa could compete together in the 2022 Asian Games.

#MarcKianna

Marck Espejo and Kim Kianna Dy initially thought that they weren’t going to see each other before the five-time UAAP men’s volleyball MVP leaves for his Oita Miyoshi Weisse Adler stint in Japan.

After watching Chance the Rappler in Manila, he immediatey headed to Jakarta to witness the Philippine women’s volleyball team’s first Asiad win in 36 years.

Espejo decided to surprise Dy as he booked his flight and accommodations two days before the Philippines vs Hong Kong game, which happened to be their fourth anniversary as a couple.

According to Espejo, his flight to Japan was moved, which gave him enough time to take a side trip to Jakarta. He will be able to watch Dy and the team against Indonesia on Saturday, August 25.

Happy anniversary, MarcKianna!

What about the others? Do you think there will be more surprises?
