IN PHOTOS: Filipino Winter Olympian's free skate routine
MANILA, Philippines – Michael Christian Martinez, the Philippines' lone representative to the 2014 Winter Olympics, garnered 119.44 points in his final free skate routine for a two-day total of 184.25 in the figure skating finals on Friday evening, February 14 (Manila time).
Performing to the song of "Malagueña" by composer Ernesto Lecuona, Martinez had a clean performance and save for a few anxious moments.
Martinez started out strong and finished his routine of 4 minutes 45 seconds with style as well.
The 17-year old is vying to be the first Filipino and first figure skater from Southeast Asia to bag a medal in the Winter Games.
