Tentative date for next La Salle-Ateneo game on November 8

MANILA, Philippines – The second-round game between the Ateneo Blue Eagles and De La Salle Green Archers for the UAAP Season 78 senior’s basketball tournament is tentatively scheduled to take place on November 8, a Sunday, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, a source has told Rappler.

The final schedule of that game, along with the rest of the league’s second-round schedule of games, will be finalized on Satuday, October 10.

Rappler hasn’t learned about what time the match will take place, but given the history of the rivalry, it’s likely going to be held at the 4 pm marquee start time of the league, just as it did during both teams’ first round match.

In the game, which was held just last Sunday, October 4, a 3-pointer by Josh Torralba and clutch free throws by Jeron Teng sealed the victory for the Green Archers, who erased a 15-point first half lead by the Blue Eagles.

Teng finished with 18 points to lead La Salle, while Ravena accounted for 19 points for Ateneo. Both teams’ records stand at 4-3 after the first round.

The next time the two squads go head to head could be the last time Ravena, who’s in his fifth and final year of eligibility, faces La Salle.

La Salle and Ateneo are both currently on pace to finish third and fourth in the Final Four race, respectively, with UST and FEU, both of whom have 6-1 records, tied for the first seed.

NU, 3-4 after the first round, is currently in fifth place.

The second round will commence on Saturday, October 10, with Adamson (1-6) battling UP (2-5) at 2 pm followed by UE (2-5) against NU at 4:00pm. Games will take place at the MOA Arena.

On Sunday, October 11, FEU will face Ateneo at 11 am, followed by DLSU vs. UST at 4 pm. Games will take place at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. – Rappler.com
