Adamson ends FEU’s win streak, strengthens Final Four bid

MANILA, Philippines – The Adamson Falcons ended the 7-game winning streak of the FEU Tamaraws, 61-59, and strengthened their bid for a spot in the UAAP Season 79 Final Four round by moving up to a 6-5 record on Sunday, November 6, at the Filoil Arena.

In a game that had the intensity of a Final Four encounter, Adamson nearly blew a 5-point lead in the final two minutes before a travelling violation by Monbert Arong with 0.8 seconds remaining sealed the loss for the Tamaraws.

FEU drops to 8-3, still in possession of second place in the standings, but just a hair ahead of the now 7-4 Ateneo Blue Eagles, who beat the Tamaraws in their first-round match. La Salle, which is 12-1, is now assured of the top seed in the Final Four.

Sean Manganti led Adamson with 14 points, 7 boards, and 4 assists. Rob Manalang added 12 points and 2 triples.

FEU was led by the 16 points and 9 boards of Raymar Jose, whose coast-to-coast layup with under a minute left cut the Falcons’ lead to 61-59. No other Tamaraw scored in double figures.

FEU out-rebounded Adamson 52-31, but coughed up 27 turnovers which led to 21 points for its opponents. – Rappler.com
