Adamson Falcons end FEU’s 3-game winning streak

The Soaring Falcons ended the first elimination round with a 5-2 record, while the Tamaraws fall to a 4-3 record.

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – The Adamson University (AdU) Soaring Falcons extended their winning streak to 4 as they bested the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws, 95-79, on Saturday, October 7 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Both teams came into the game on winning streaks and were looking to break away from the 4-2 tie in the standings prior to this match. The Soaring Falcons ended the first elimination round with a 5-2 record, while the Tamaraws fall to a 4-3 record.

The Adamson team came out strong in the second quarter as they managed to pull a 23-point lead from the Tamaraws via a balanced scoring effort.

Rob Manalang fueled the game for the Soaring Falcons early in the game as he drained 3 triples in the first quarter alone to nab a 10-point cushion heading into the second period.

The second half of the game still saw Adamson maintain a double-digit lead, but emotions ran high for the Tamaraws as Arvin Tolentino and Ron Dennison gave into committing unsportmanslike fouls on Tyrus Hill and Papi Sarr, respectively.

FEU’s aggressive play continued as Tolentino was ejected from the game for another unsportsmanlike foul on Dawn Ochea before 7 minute-mark of the fourth quarter. Both teams were in foul trouble as points off charities mainly brought the score up until the game closed out to Kevin Eboña’s own unsportsmanlike foul on Sarr.

Jerrick Ahanmisi and Jonathan Espeleta topscored for the Soaring Falcons with 17 points apiece. Adamson big man Sarr contributed a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds plus 2 assists and 1 steal.

Jasper Parker led the FEU Tamaraws with 12 points, 2 boards and 4 assists. Team captain Dennison followed by putting up 11 points and 3 rebounds.
