MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED)  – The Adamson Lady Falcons stunned the National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs in 4 sets, 25-19, 25-15, 18-25, 25-13, on Wednesday, March 21, at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

After giving up a chance for their second sweep, the Lady Falcons led all the way in the 4th set, locking down the Lady Bulldogs by the second technical timeout, 16-8. Mylene Paat’s attack brought it to a 10-point lead and Jasmine Nabor’s short attack surrendered the match point to Adamson, 24-13.

Lea Ann Perez’s block on Risa Sato allowed the Adamson to win the match.

The Lady Falcons improve their record to 5-5 while the Lady Bulldogs skid down to a 6-4 off a 3-game losing streak in the UAAP Season 80 Women’s Volleyball tournament.

Adamson captain Jema Galanza topscored with 16 points off 15 spikes and one block while making 11 excellent receptions.

NU captain Jaja Santiago led the Lady Bulldogs with 21 points off 17 spikes. two blocks and two aces.

After the 12-all equalizer, the Lady Falcons pulled away until Joy Dacoron made an ace to bring it to set point, 24-19. A net touch from NU gifted the first set to Adamson as it completed their 5-0 run.

The Lady Falcons continued their momentum as they led the Lady Bulldogs by 10-6. After NU tied it at 12-all again, Paat lifted Adamson in their 10-0 run capped off by her attack that went straight towards Risa Sato, 22-12.

After NU took two points, Paat’s spike through the block maintained Adamson’s 10-point lead and nabbed the set point. Santiago’s spike cut delayed Adamson’s 2-0 lead, but Jasmine Nabor’s service error gave them the advantage in the next sequence.

The Lady Bulldogs made sure that they would not be swept in this game as Adamson failed to nab the lead in the set. The Lady Falcons’ errors contributed to NU’s 6-1 run that was closed out by Santiago’s back-to-back attacks.

This marked NU’s first set win in the second round as the Lady Bulldogs were swept by UAAP finalists De La Salle University and Ateneo in their previous matches.
