Debuting Kalei Mau and Choco Mucho aim to bounce back in their 2021 Asian Club Volleyball Championships campaign

Kalei Mau didn’t have the perfect debut for the Philippines but she proved how she can be vital to the development of the national team.

Playing for the first time since switching federations from the US to the Philippines, Mau led Choco Mucho with 12 points and adjusted quickly to contribute for the team in the 2021 Asian Volleyball Club Championships.

“Kalei’s getting into the groove. After four days of traveling, she is pushing herself and she is trying to channel her energy to the team early on,” Choco Mucho coach Odjie Mamon said.

Fil-Hawaiian Mau suited up for the Philippines after her two-month stint with Puerto Rican team Las Changas de Naranjito last May.

She continued to train in Hawaii that allowed her to remain in top shape for her first international tournament representing the Philippines.

Mau was given the go signal to represent the country last July when FIVB approved her transfer from USA Volleyball to the Philippine National Volleyball Federation.

Choco Mucho hopes to overcome a mountain in nine-time Kazakhstan women’s volleyball league titlist Zhetysu on Saturday, October 2, 1:30 pm, which will cap off its preliminary round campaign in Pool A. – Rappler.com
