Samsung announced its A series lineup for 2021 on Wednesday, March 17.

The midrange line includes the A32, A52 (P18,990), A52 5G (P23,990), and the A72 (P23,990). The A series phones see the arrival of features first found in Samsung’s flagship S and Note lines at a more affordable price.

The A72 gets the hybrid 30X zoom along with a 3x optical zoom while all models except for the A32 receive optical image stabilization. The phones all have a quad camera setup with a main 64MP shooter, an ultra-wide, and a macro, with the A72 having a 3x lens instead of the depth-sensing camera found on the A52 and A52 5G phones.

The A52 5G gets a 120Hz screen, while the A52 and A72 get 90Hz displays. The A72 has the largest screen size at 6.7 inches, while the A52 and A52 5G have 6.5-inch screens. The phone displays are all full HD.

The phones also get IP67 dust and water resistance, which is still surprisingly rare in this price bracket, along with Dolby Atmos stereo speakers. The phones’ dual audio feature can stream music and other audio content to two Bluetooth audio devices simultaneously.

The A52 5G, as its name implies, is 5G-capable, becoming one of the cheaper models in the Samsung stable to offer the next-generation connectivity standard.

The budget offering in the line, the A32, has a 6.4-inch 90Hz display and, like its bigger brothers, has 8GB of RAM, at least 128GB of storage, and a quad camera setup similar to the A52 phones. What the A32 won’t have is the IP67 protection, and will have a less powerful processor in the form of the Mediatek Helio G80 as opposed to the A52 and A72’s Snapdragon 720 and the A52 5G’s Snapdragon 750G.

The A52, A52 5G and A72 will be available starting March 26.

Samsung has promos for the devices as well. From March 18 to April 4, Galaxy A52 5G phones purchased on Samsung.com will come with a free Galaxy Buds+ earphones while purchases of the Galaxy A72, A52 5G or A52 from Samsung authorized online stores will receive a free Itfit waterproof bluetooth speaker.

All the A series phones will come with a travel charger.

The price of the A32 has not been announced but will be available on April 9. – Rappler.com
