Here's what to expect from the latest content update coming to 'World of Warcraft: Shadowlands'

Blizzard on Saturday, February 20, outlined what was coming in the latest content update for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.

Patch 9.1 is titled “Chains of Domination” and this content update continues the Shadowlands story as the Horde and Alliance attempt to figure out what the Jailer of the Maw is planning and what his motivations are.

Part of the storyline centers on finding a mysterious key, which appears to be hidden in Korthia, the City of Secrets. The Jailer’s so-named Chains of Domination pulled a fragment of the city into the Maw so he can find this key.

Also, as part of the latest cinematic introducing the patch, Anduin Wrynn, King of the Alliance forces, becomes a servant of the Jailer, wearing some Death Knight-like garb in the process.

The Sanctum of Domination

To get to the bottom of things, players from the four covenants will team up to explore the 10-man raid called The Sanctum of Domination.

In this raid, you’ll be able to face off against the Tarragrue and confront Sylvanas Windrunner. In an interview with media, Blizzard’s development team also noted how the fight may showcase different sides of Sylvanas’ identity, notably her Dark Ranger and Banshee sides, as well as some of the powers of the Jailer conferred unto her.

This inner lair of the Jailer’s domain may also feature past World of Warcraft characters he’s locked up for safekeeping, such as Kel’Thuzad.

Meanwhile, Blizzard also said Anduin’s fate will be an integral part of the story moving forward for Shadowlands, though they couldn’t add any further details without spoiling anything.

Mounts, flying, and the Broker megadungeon

In related news to Patch 9.1, mounts will once again play a role around the Maw, as the storyline will include a means for allowing mounts to be used in the area.

Additionally, Blizzard explained how continuing through the Chains of Domination campaign and completing the story will give a custom covenant mount and unlock flying across the Shadowlands. As such, it seems there will no longer be reputation requirements to unlock flying for this expansion.

Lastly, for those dungeon-runners among us, aside from the 10-man raid, there will also be a new 8-man Mythic megadungeon called Tazavesh, The Veiled Market, which is set in a bazaar of the group known as the Brokers.

Aside from these updates, you can also expect expanded renown caps, new covenant cosmetic armor sets wearable by all classes, and expanded Soulbind and Conduit powers, as well as the expectedly wonderful new loot, including new mounts and pets for the collectors out there.

More information and screenshots of the various new things to expect are available on World of Warcraft’s website.– Rappler.com
