IBM teases alpha test of Sword Art Online: The Beginning
MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – As Japan gears up for the prototype alpha test of the Sword Art Online: The Beginning virtual reality experience, IBM Japan is also whetting fans' appetites with some savory content.
The company provided the Japanese press Thursday, March 17, with some promotional screenshots and information on the devices to be used for the alpha test.
Inside Games reported that the equivalent version of the Sword Art Online NerveGear immersive virtual reality headset is based on the Oculus Rift DK2, and is equipped with sensors that detect foot movement. The prototype alpha test will be held from March 18 to 20 in Tokyo. Out of over 100,000 applicants, Kotaku added, only 208 were selected to participate.
