First gaming laptop with Intel Core i9 lands in PH for P229,995
The Asus ROG Chimera is known for having introduced 144Hz displays to laptops

MANILA, Philippines – Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG) has launched the first gaming laptop to carry Intel’s newest line of processors, the i9, in the Philippines.

Called the ROG Chimera G703, Asus is branding it as a beast, and rightfully so: beyond the processor, it boasts a massive 17.3-inch Full HD display with a 144Hz refresh rate to its laptops, and a 100% sRGB IPS Panel with G-sync technology.

The Chimera is the first laptop to have a display with a 144Hz refresh rate back when it was announced at Germany’s consumer electronics show last year, IFA 2017. A screen’s refresh rate is the number of frames it can display per second. A higher number means smoother motion, making it an important factor in gaming.

G-Sync technology, meanwhile, ensures the monitor’s refresh rate is in tune with the graphics card to prevent graphical glitches, while an IPS panel is generally noted for its wide color gamut and dynamic range.

The Chimera also has a price that’s going to sound equally monstrous if you’re not a hardcore gamer and are used to the average laptop: P229,995 for the version with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of main storage known as the G703GI-E5057T, and P249,995 for the version with 64GB of RAM and 2TB of main storage known as the 703GI-E5077T.

The two models both have an Intel Core i9-8950 processor, a 512GB SSD, and an Nvidia GTX1080 with 8GB DDR5X RAM.

Both are now available at the ROG Concept Store at the Cyberzone in SM Megamall and SM City Cebu. – Rappler.com
