MANILA, Philippines – Google announced Wednesday, October 22, a new service for those who want to better maximize their time by managing their emails more efficiently. The service, called Inbox, works in tandem with Google’s Gmail service and adds new features to help organize information and quickly see important details.
Inbox’s features include a customizable bundling system that expands on the categories introduced in Gmail last year. Users can choose to read individual mails in a bundle or file the entire bundle away for later reading or other actions. Users can also “teach Inbox to adapt to the way you work by choosing which emails you’d like to see grouped together.”
A highlights system notes important information stored in an email – such as flight or event details, and even photos and documents emailed to users – allowing Inbox users to get the information they need at a glance.
Inbox also comes with its own system for setting up reminders and to-do lists, as well as allowing app users to get timed notifications to check certain emails or reminders at a later date.
Inbox is currently invite-only, but interested users who want to try it out can email Google at inbox@google.com to get an invitation as soon as more are up for grabs. Inbox is available online via Google Chrome, or as an app for Android 4.1 or higher and iOS 7 or higher.
