MANILA, Philippines – Savvy shoppers looking for a new smartphone that has power, performance, and a great camera within a friendly price range will enjoy Xiaomi’s latest offering in the Philippines – The Xiaomi Mi 4i.

Formally revealed at an event in Makati on Monday, July 20, the Mi 4i features a 5-inch 1080p full HD display that allows for a high pixels per inch (ppi) count at 441ppi, along with Sunlight Display technology that automatically adjusts the contrast for better viewing under direct sunlight.

Xiaomi’s Mi 4i will cost P9,799 (about $218).

The Mi 4i is powered by a 2nd-gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core 64-bit processor and comes with 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 16GB of onboard Flash memory. It will also run MiUI 6, which is based on Android 5.0 Lollipop. 4G dual SIM capabilities with dual standby slots come standard.

Along with hefty power comes a 13 megapixel rear camera with two-tone flash and a 5 megapixel front facing camera that supports 80-degree wide angle shots.

The Mi 4i also features a rather powerful battery in a slim design, with a 3120 mAh battery that can, with power saving features enabled, allow for up to 1.5 days of charge through normal use. Charging back to full power will take approximately 3 hours, though it can go back to 40% charge within around an hour of charging for people on the go.

Xiaomi also announced that the Mi 4i will have an exclusive carrier partnership with Smart Communications., with pre-registrations beginning on July 24. The Mi 4i will be available on Smart through the Surf Plus plans on its postpaid lineup.

In a statement, Steve Vickers, General Manager for Xiaomi Southeast Asia, said, “We are truly excited to partner exclusively with Smart to offer Mi 4i in the Philippines, as we introduce different ways to make it easier for Mi fans to get their hands on our products.”

Vickers added, “We believe that users of Mi 4i will be able to enjoy an amazing experience with the fast and seamless connectivity nationwide on Smart’s expansive mobile network.”

The Mi 4i will also be available online through Lazada on July 29 and through Xiaomi-authorized retail partner shops on August 1. The first color will be dark grey. – Rappler.com
