MANILA, Philippines – Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box” is a 21-year old song but you haven’t heard it quite like this before.

Kansas-based one woman band, Kawehi covers one of Nirvana’s most popular songs from their last studio album, In Utero. Armed with a looping machine, she brings back the grunge rock band’s anthemic wails “Hey! Wait!” all on her own.

Kawehi and her song covers have gone viral – she’s got over 18,000 YouTube subscribers to prove it. The touring musician has used crowdfunding to create her albums, with people pledging money over the site Kickstarter to make her dream albums a reality. This time around, Kawehi’s new Kickstarter project is called Robot Heart. All of the songs on the album will be played with a machine. Describing her project, she says, “I know, it sounds crazy but if you know me by now, then you know that I pretty much only do crazy, yo!” – Rappler.com
