MANILA, Philippines – On Friday, November 13, the world was jolted by shocking news: a series of attacks at 7 locations across Paris that left at least 120 dead and many injured.
A majority of those killed were at the Bataclan concert hall in eastern Paris, where US rock band Eagles of Death Metal played on Friday night. Among the casualties are 4 suspected attackers.
French President Francois Hollande declared a state of emergency, while 1,500 extra soldiers were deployed to Paris after the attacks.
Schools, museums, libraries, gymnasiums, pools, markets, and stores in Paris will also be closed starting November 14.
World leaders, including US President Barack Obama and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, condemned the attacks and expressed full solidarity with France. (READ: World leaders condemn Paris attacks, vow to help)
France has been on high alert since the attacks in January against Charlie Hebdo and a Jewish supermarket that left 17 dead.
