Nestea Beach sizzles in #LaBoracay 2014
Nestea was at the helm of all the action and parties that happened during #Laboracay 2014

BORACAY, Philippines – It was a weekend that was nothing short of epic. With every aspect of the island paradise covered, the 17th Nestea Beach was truly a memorable experience for everyone who participated in the events, sporting activities, and of course – the unforgettable parties.

The four-day event lasted through Labor Day Weekend, fondly branded by island-party-veterans as #Laboracay – a weekend where you can forget about the city and just let loose on the island paradise.

For years, it’s been known as a summer sporting event with the Nestea Beach Volleyball Competition as the highlight.

However, Nestea Beach has evolved through the years and is now an umbrella event throughout the island and beyond – catering to partygoers, sports enthusiasts, and those who just want to go to the beach to relax. (READ: Sam YG’s 9 tips to a fun, hassle-free Boracay Labor Day weekend

Day One itself happened on Labor Day, where guests of the island were treated to a party on the ferry going from Caticlan to Boracay. DJs were spinning on the ferry deck while guests and Nestea Beach models danced to the beat.

Nothing like a good old party to get you in the mood as you arrive, right?

By the afternoon, as early as 3 pm, Nestea Beach geared up for the Plunge Pool Party at the Tides Roofdeck where DJs Ron Poe, Nina Saputil, Macoy of RX, and Jessica Milner played the latest dance mixes for the crowd. In between, there were poolside games where airline tickets sponsored by Nestea partner Air Asia were given away.

All throughout the day, volleyball matches between champs and regional representatives were ongoing  and Adamson University took a win from De LaSalle University and Southwestern University players showed off their playing prowess (READ: Nestea Beach Day 1: AdU clips DLSU, SWU shines)

A Chill Station was also set up in front of Crystal Sand hotel on the first day and ran all the way till May 3. Island goers were able to get massages and try out paraw sailing for free.

On Day 2, Nestea, AirAsia and the local unit of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources sponsored a beach clean up drive to save the island-paradise from clutter left by its visitors.

CLEAN FUN. Volunteers pick up leftover trash on the beach.

Volunteers were deployed to all 3 stations of the island to pick up trash. In the end, a total of 375 kilograms of garbage were collected. “Our garbage has been reduced because of the ongoing campaign for waste management here in Boracay,” said Jonne Adeniel, officer-in-charge of Boracay’s DENR unit. An ordinance is in place requiring establishment owners to clean up the area in front of their properties.

In the afternoon 200 people boarded a yacht for Nestea’s exclusive boat party where DJ Callum David and the Zombettes provided non stop music while RX 93.1 DJs Chico, Delamar, and Gino hosted the event.

Grammy winning French DJ Cedric Gervais arrived on the island where he was able to squeeze in a bit of jet-ski fun in the water before playing a gig that night for Nestea Beach.

The party lasted till the wee hours of the morning with people dancing to the beats provided by Gervais, pumping their LED-lighted Nestea tumblers, and ultimately going crazy when he turned it up for his mix of the Lana Del Rey hit “Summertime Sadness.”

Earlier, Gervais told Rappler that choosing to mix songs is always about his feeling towards a song – not the artist. “If it feels right, I will do it. But I will never do it for money,” Gervais said.

But the partying didn’t stop with Gervais. On May 4, the last day for #Laboracay weekend, American electro house musician Steve Aoki also played at the Nestea Beach party.
