MANILA, Philippines - Sony has followed up its January 8 announcement of the Xperia Z smartphone with the introduction of a new tablet, also called the Xperia Z.

The Sony Mobile Japan website released the information on their website, and Engadget mentions the Xperia Tablet Z comes with some rather powerful features.

According to Engadget's report, the Xperia Tablet Z will be a 10.1-inch tablet with a 1920x1200 screen (running on the Mobile Bravia Engine 2. The tablet will weigh in at 495g and run on Android 4.1 and take advantage of a Qualcomm 1.5GHz quad core APQ8064 processor and 2GB of RAM.

The Xperia Tablet Z also comes with an 8.1-megapixel Exmor R camera and 32GB of storage with microSD capabilities. It will also use Sony's S-Force virtual surround sound technology.

The Blog of Mobile (Japanese) also mentioned that it will be running on a 6000mAh battery, though what that implies for the battery life of the tablet will depend on any new power-saving features in use for the device.
