15 reasons to visit the Philippines in 2015
Nature and concrete, street and club parties, and a swimswuit-loving people who eat at least five meals a day. It’s definitely more fun here

Fifteen.

That’s the standard number of days allotted for vacation leave (at least for most of the workforce).

Luckily, Filipinos don’t have to venture that far for stunning destinations that make you feel truly transported. We aren’t short of fun activities, weekend road trips and nearby festivals either that allow us to easily escape the daily grind.

If you’re the type of person to write resolutions, or at the very least, a collection of goals at the beginning of the year, there are many reasons to include the Philippines in your travel bucket list.

There is something for every persuasion.

For starters, year-round, there are festivals that showcase the party culture and song-and-dance talents of the people. January’s Sinulog festival in Cebu merely kick things off for a full calendar of parties on and off the streets.

For people who just want to sit back, we have some of the most photogenic #nofilter sunsets. For nature lovers, we have water, earth, and if you want all of the above, you can hike up Mt. Pulag, sit above the clouds, and wait for the sky to blush all kinds of pink.

Yes, Filipinos do have the license to feel very #blessed.

We might have some contradictions but they are endearing at most and funny at least.

On one hand, we have places steeped in history, and yet we are fully updated on the latest top 40 hits and dance moves. We have some of the most biologically diverse and lush natural sanctuaries in the world, and yet we love our air-conditioned malls and shopping. We have extended our hospitality and generosity into the virtual sphere, displaying it in our selfies, foodstagrams and oversharing.

Here, there’s fun, there’s history, there’s a really pretty island (and hundreds others), and best of all, there’s a great people waiting to welcome you with open arms and an outstretched hand bearing a karaoke mic.

And while there are certainly more sights, smells and sounds to convince you to visit the Philippines, this witty video produced by the Department of Tourism (DOT) rounds up just a few. Here are 15. -Rappler.com
