BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Just 12 days after 7 policemen from Negros Occidental were relieved due to their alleged involvement in illegal drug operations, another set of uniformed personnel here were sacked.

Fourteen police non-commissioned officers of Police Regional Office-18 were relieved from their posts effective Monday, November 28, after they were allegedly linked in the illegal drug trade.

This was the third batch of “narco-cops” in Negros Island who were transferred after President Rodrigo Duterte assumed power on June 30.

Chief Inspector Dianne Grace Catedral, PRO-18 public information officer, said they received the relief order from Camp Crame on Tuesday, November 29.

It was approved by Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald de la Rosa.

Catedral said that their relief was upon the recommendation of Chief Superintendent Renato Gumban, PRO-18 acting director, adding that the names of the newly-transferred policemen were always mentioned in the drug list that is being verified by the regional headquarters.

On November 16, 7 policemen in the province were transferred to PRO-Cordillera due to their alleged involvement in illegal drugs. Prior to that, on October 26, other 7 police officers from the province were also relieved after they were allegedly tagged as drug protectors.
