Passable or not? MMDA releases flood measurements
MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) - Flooding has always been arbitrarily measured, with the public not having a standard gauge as to how deep "knee deep" or "gutter level" could get. But the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) released standard flood measurements via its Twitter account on Tuesday, August 20.
The acronyms beside the flood measurements (in inches) stand for the following, as tweeted by the MMDA:
FLOOD MEASUREMENTS: (PATV) - PASSABLE ALL TYPES VEHICLES, (NPLV) - NOT PASSABLE LIGHT VEHICLES, (NPATV) - NOT PASSABLE ALL TYPES VEHICLES.— Official MMDA (@MMDA) August 19, 2013
UPDATE: As of 12:05 pm, the flooding situation in Metro Manila follows:
SOUTHERN NCR (Parañaque, Muntinlupa, Pasay, Las Piñas)
