MANILA, Philippines – The De La Salle University Lady Spikers remain unbeaten as they treated Adamson University to a volleyball clinic to run away as 25-9, 25-19, 25-13 winners in the 76th UAAP Women’s Volleyball tournament, Saturday, January 25, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The Lady Spikers are looking on the verge of a perfect elimination round as they seized their 9th victory in as many games – not dropping even a single set in their Season 76 conquest so far – to retain tight grip of the top spot in the table.

La Salle skipper Abi Marano engineered the Lady Spikers’ straight sets victory as she registered 12 points from 7 attacks and 4 blocks as Ara Galang contributed 11 markers of her own for the Taft Avenue side.

It was a seamless opening frame for La Salle as they drubbed the Lady Falcons in the early goings, raining them with attacks while also capitalizing on Adamson’s mountain of errors to take the first set, 25-9.

After a lackluster start, Adamson put on a valiant fight in the second set as they took De La Salle to a tight battle but the reigning champions kept them at bay with Mika Reyes, Galang, and Marano playing their usual deadly game.

Up by two sets, La Salle remained all-business as they straightforwardly finished off Adamson, 25-13, to gain a little more leverage over National University Lady Bulldogs – who are breathing down their necks at 8-1 – in the standings.

The Lady Spikers – who are currently on a 25-game winning streak in the UAAP – proved to be too hot for Adamson to handle as they poured in 37 spikes compared to AdU’s 26 while also dominating the battle near the net, converting 7 blocks to the Lady Falcons’ 2.

Adamson, which drops to 4-5 in the standings, also committed 25 errors to La Salle’s just 13.

The Lady Spikers shut Adamson’s main guns out as they limited Sheila Pineda to only 9 points with no other players coming up with significant contribution.

Adamson will try to get back to .500 against cellar-dweller University of the East on January 29 while La Salle defends their unbeaten run against Far Eastern University on the same day. – Rappler.com
