Actress Kim So-hyun, 21, said that her character, Jo-jo, was defensive about her feelings in the first season but will soon realize that there are consequences for her actions in the second season. So-hyun, who debuted as a child-actress in 2006, said that playing Jo-jo was a new challenge for her because the character was going through many things at once.
“It had the excitement of a new challenge and especially because now Jo-jo is a university student, there’s that unique sense of emotion that comes along with starting college and becoming adults,” the actress said.
In the Love Alarm season 2 featurette, Song Kang mentioned how hard it was to act as Sun-oh in the context of being in love with the same girl as Hye-young, played by Jung Ga-ram, who wasn’t present in the press conference.
“We had to show that we were friends but also caught in a love triangle. That was the most difficult part of playing the role,” the actor said.
Kim admitted it was a challenge to think of ways to make the new season different from the first. The Good Doctor director wanted to show how the characters’ decision-making process in life leads to growth while being loyal to their personalities, which were well-established in the first season.
“I kind of reminded myself of times that I actually think I’ve forgotten… working with a very young cast, I think I was also given that young and fresh energy,” Kim said of the filming process. Kim also said that he wants to share that “beautiful and fresh energy” to the viewers.
