#AlDub recap: Yaya Dub meets Daddy Bae on Alden's birthday

MANILA, Philippines – It’s Alden Richards’ 24th birthday, and the lolas and Yaya Dub (Maine Mendoza) planned a surprise for him on Eat Bulaga‘s kalyserye.

Fans continue to monitor Alden and Yaya Dub’s blossoming relationship, following their meeting during the Tamang Panahon event last October. Since their meeting, the two have appeared in various commercials and starred in the 2015 Metro Manila Film festival movie, My Bebe Love.

It seems the TV romance is going to continue this 2016. Here’s what happened so far:

Yaya Dub and the lolas Nidora, Tidora, and Tinidora decided to put together a surprise for Alden’s birthday, which falls on January 2.

But in order to pay for the surprise, they had to join the 2016 “Bulagaan” portion of the show on January 1, wherein whoever scores the highest, will get a cash prize of P10,000. A funny riot erupted as the hosts throwed pies at each other after Tinidora took the cash prize.

On January 2, Lola Nidora and Tidora greeted Alden on his birthday after the “sugod bahay” segment, wherein the hosts visit the homes of viewers. Lola Nidora then got word that everything was ready for Alden’s surprise and that he was at Broadway.

Upon their arrival at Broadway, Nidora, and Tidora greeted Alden again. They later took him to the stage, where Yaya Dub was then flashed onscreen and she performed a song number.

After her song number Yaya Dub greeted Alden, wishing him a wonderful birthday. Everyone got giddy when Alden kissed her on the hand – with Lola Nidora’s permission of course.

Yaya then told her that she had another surprise. Jose Manalo then came out wearing a tribal costume and did a dance number – a reference to Alden’s participation in a male beauty pageant before he entered showbiz.

Yaya then presented her next surprise – a birthday cake she made by herself. A video of the cake was shown to the audience. She and Lola Tinidora presented the cake, which was wrapped in a giant cake box.

Alden’s friends and schoolmates also greeted him on his birthday at the studio. All of them said that they were proud of his achievements.

Lola Nidora then asked Alden for a favor. Since it was his birthday, she asked if he could finally introduce Yaya Dub to his dad, Richard “Daddy Bae” Faulkerson Sr. Daddy Bae then went onstage where he and Alden did a duet.

Daddy Bae then shared his wish for his son – that he will have good health, and that he will continue to be the best at his career. Alden then introduced Yaya Dub to him as Maine Mendoza.

After blowing out the candles on his cake, Alden became emotional, thanking everyone for the support and blessings he received in the last year. He also gave a special mention the people of Eat Bulaga, TAPE management, and Vic Sotto. He said that he will continue to do his best to entertain them in the future. He also mentioned his late mom, who he credited for pushing him to pursue showbiz. The episode ended with his personal assistant, dressed in a Yaya Dub apron, greeting him a happy birthday.
