Vice President Leni Robredo said on Sunday, October 25, that she has placed herself in self-quarantine after she was exposed to a person who later tested positive for COVID-19.

Robredo made the announcement through her official Facebook page, adding that events under her office will be done online “until necessary.”

“On Friday morning, we learned that someone my chief of staff and I had very close contact with, tested positive for COVID. Following protocol, we decided to do self-quarantining beginning Friday until we get a swab test,” Robredo said on Sunday.

The development came at the end of what the Vice President described was a “blockbuster week.” Robredo’s office, known for its pandemic response activities, had just opened community learning hubs throughout the country and launched livelihood and out-of-school job programs.

Robredo was scheduled to visit the recently opened community learning hubs in the coming week.

This is not the first time a COVID-19 case has affected work in Robredo’s office. In July, operations at the vice president’s office were suspended after 4 of its staff members tested positive for the virus. At the time, Robredo was also tested and was found negative for the coronavirus. – Rappler.com
