
MANILA, Philippines – On May 9, Filipinos will elect a new president.
The checklist of issues staring this new leader in the face is a long one: there’s crime, poverty, pollution, lack of access to quality education, and horrendous traffic. But probably the most pressing of all is climate change.
Climate change is here. We’re feeling its effects – typhoons are becoming more destructive, and droughts, longer and more massive. Experts warn it’s going to get worse, yet the topic hasn’t been front and center ahead of the May 9 polls.
