SAFER Foundation brings back BUYanihan fundraiser bazaar
Press release: Now on its second run, BUYanihan Bazaar aims to raise money to implement its emergency response program and help more Filipinos affected by disasters

This is a press release from the Shared Aid Fund for Emergency Response.

The Shared Aid Fund for Emergency Response (SAFER) Foundation Inc, in partnership with Aji Events Management Services, will once again be holding a BUYanihan fundraiser bazaar at Century City Mall in Kalayaan Avenue, Makati City from July 29 to August 4, 2019.

With the theme “Igniting the Bayanihan Spirit in Times of Disasters,” the event will feature different local products and merchandise from SMEs.

The income from the bazaar will help support emergency response initiatives and provide vulnerable sectors a chance to rebuild their lives faster and better.

The event is also supported by Radyo Veritas and Social Enterprise Development Partnership’s Inc, (SEDPI) Foundation. The first Buyanihan Fundraising Bazaar was held last March 30 to 31, 2019 at UP Town Center, Quezon City.

In 2018, the same event raised a total of Php137,105 in donations.

Disaster aid and beyond

Ferdinand and Jerry Salome are cousins and rice farmers from Baco, Oriental Mindoro. In February 2019, their crops were wiped out due to severe flooding caused by Tropical Depression Usman.

With no start-up capital, it was difficult for them to rebuild their farming livelihood.

Ferdinand and Jerry are two of the beneficiaries of SAFER Foundation who each received Php2,500 cash grant assistance through SAFER’s emergency response program.

The response was conducted last February 11, 2019, with the help of Kaunsayan Formation for Community Development, Inc. (KAFCODE), a local NGO based in Oriental Mindoro which selected and assessed farmer-beneficiaries to ensure that donations coursed through SAFER are given to those who are most vulnerable and in need.

SAFER Foundation aims to help more people like Ferdinand and Jerry by ensuring that funds are readily in place even before disasters strike.

SAFER serves as a pooled fund for private and public donors who want to support disaster-affected Filipino communities in the Philippines.

As a result, severely affected Filipino communities receive life-saving relief and assistance in times of crisis. – Rappler.com
