Apply for a songwriting camp with OPM greats
Aspiring singer/songwriter? Join the ELEMENTS songwriting camp and be mentored by OPM greats

It’s been 5 years since 7101 Music Nation first set up the ELEMENTS National Singing-Songwriting Camp in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

Every year since 2010, 60 promising songwriters are handpicked by some of the country’s most renowned musicians. It is a 5-day event where songwriters aged 18 to 35 go through a bootcamp of sorts – from lectures to composition exercises, from knowing musicians’ rights to jam sessions with mentors such as Ryan Cayabyab, Joey Ayala, Raymund Marasigan, Ebe Dancel, and other Pinoy music heavyweights.

This year’s ELEMENTS camp will run from November 9-13, 2014. All chosen songwriters will be flown in from wherever they are in the country. Entrance, airfare, food, and lodging will all be for free.

The ELEMENTS camp counts some of today’s up and coming artists such as R&B duo Thyro Alfaro and Yumi Lacsamana, bossa singer Sitti, opera-turned-pop singer Lara Maigue, and piano prodigy/fashion designer Kate Torralba as its alumni.

All applicants have to do is to fill out a form online, upload an audio recording of an original song, prepare a video of themselves performing, and confirm the registration.

Registration period is until Sunday, August 31. For more details, visit the ELEMENTS site. – Rappler.com
