It is open to all students from elementary to high school (junior and senior high) who triumphed in provincial and regional academic, arts, and talent competitions hosted by UP Sanlahi Alliance’s member organizations such as:

PatalaSanlahi 2021 has group and individual competitions open to elementary and high school students.

For individual activities, elementary students may join the essay writing in Filipino and English, and traditional poster-making competitions.

Junior and senior high school students may participate in essay writing in Filipino and English, traditional poster-making, extemporaneous speech, short speech, and for the first time in PatalaSanlahi history, the digital poster-making competition.

For group competitions, elementary and junior high school students may join the quiz bee for their respective categories, while the debate group competition is open to both junior and senior high school students.

The short filmmaking group competition is only open to senior high school students.

Before the competition proper, the PatalaSanlahi team will also hold workshops for coaches and participants about writing, speaking, filmmaking, and debate. These workshops will equip the student-participants and coaches with tips from the judges themselves before the competition proper. There will also be a seminar for students in the waiting room which will tackle the role of youth in upholding academic freedom and climate change.

PatalaSanlahi is an academic inter-school competition joined by grade school, junior high school, and senior high school students originating from the different provinces and regions in the Philippines. 

Now in its 45th year, the Alliance is consistent in pursuing its goals of exploring diverse cultures in the country and encouraging unity among its member organizations while promoting awareness and appreciation of the various cultures and traditions present in the Philippines through this competition.

The UP Sanlahi Alliance is a duly-recognized congregation of provincial, regional, and ethnolinguistic organizations in UP Diliman.
