Gokongwei: Aviation investments show belief in govt

MANILA, Philippines – The CEO and president of local carrier Cebu Pacific Air said they will continue to invest in Philippine aviation as the government supports tourism growth.
 
at the Philippine Economic Brieing on Tuesday, March 6, Lance Gokongwei said the Gokongwei group is optimistic on the government because of its push for transparency and level playing field.

“We’re very optimistic on tourism…We do recognize tourism provides a lot of jobs, local value added. We are putting our money behind our belief,” he said.

“We have made a commitment to start flying long haul, beginning July 2013,” he added.

The Gokongwei group also has a real estate unit that builds hotels, which also banks on brisk tourism growth.

“With regards to hotel sector, we’ve also launched Go Hotels last year in Edsa. Right now were in the midst of rolling 6 more hotels this year. We just opened in Puerto Princesa,” he added.
