MANILA, Philippines – Over 4,000 delegates, including finance ministers, central bank executives and top ranking government officials, from 67 member-countries of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) gathered in Manila on Wednesday, May 2, for the first day of the 45th annual meeting of the multilateral lender’s Board of Governors.
Philippine officials took advantage of the prestigious event to showcase the country, where ADB is headquartered, as an investment and tourist destination.
They also highlighted the achievements of the nearly two-year-old administration of President Aquino.
On Wednesday, the first day of the 4-day event, Vice President Jejomar Binay graced the official opening of the Philippine Corporate and Investment Pavilion at the SMX Convention Center.
He then delivered the keynote speech to kick off the ADB meeting.
