In January 2020, Aboitiz Power Corporation got its first president and chief executive officer who is outside of the Aboitiz clan.
The company named Emmanuel “Manny” Rubio as its new boss, as the Aboitiz clan relied more and more on professional management.
“The deliberate move is to work together with professionals and run the business together with them. Our policy has always been to get the best person for the job, and that’s a combination of family and professionals,” said Sabin Aboitiz back in April 2019.
Rubio now leads AboitizPower during the worst health crisis in recent history, which led to business shutdowns, and ultimately, a drop in power demand.
He also navigates the company as it moves to invest more in renewable energy and put emphasis on sustainability.
